Utilization of glycerol fractions from biddiesel plants
Com. glycerol fractions were pretreated by distn. to remove H2O and MeOH and with aq. NaOH or KOH at 65-80 degrees C for 5-7 h for sapong. the residual glycerides transesterified either with rapeseed oil-contd. triglycerides at 170-190 degrees C for 3-8 h or reesterifted with oleic acid at 100-160 degrees C for 26 h, and oxyethylated with ethylene oxide at 60-160 degrees C and 0.25-0.35 MPa for 12-490 min. The glycerol fraction was also aminated with dimethylpropylenediamine, ethylenediamine or diethylenetetraamine at below 150 degrees C or converted to formal of glycerol by transacetylization of methylal in presence of strongly acidic cation exchange resins. Uses of final products from the processes as emulsifiers, detergents, hydraulic oil and fuel additives or corrosion inhibitors were discussed.
