The kinetics of reduction of NO with hydrocarbons over a carbon-iron catalyst, described with the aid of artificial neural networks
Active coke impregnated with aq. Fe(NO3)(3) and calcined at 600 degrees C/1.5 hr. catalyzed 250, 500, 1000 or 2000 (x(NO)) ppm NO to become reduced with a (64.8:33.5 v/v) propane-butane over T = 150-600 degrees C, contact time (tau) 0-12 s (every 3 s). The dimensionless NO conversion deg. was expressed as a function of T, tau, and x(NO) and artificial neural networks involving 3 or 4 input neurons, one hidden layer (3-4 hidden neurons), and one output neuron were used to successfully predict output values for assumed parameter values.
