Modified cyanuric dyes
Acid dyes, viz., 14 aminomonoazo and aminoanthraquinone, were prepared and condensed twice with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (aq.medium, pH 6.5-7.2) to replace one Cl atom at 5-12degreesC and another at 45-50degreesC. The third Cl atom was substituted at 90-95degreesC with an amine (mono or diethanolamine or morpholine) used as moderator. The reactions were followed by PC and TLC. The dyes were salted out, 75-85% pure (HPLC), M = 900-1100 (5 Yellows, 2 Reds, Scarlet, Orange, Violet, Green, 3 Blues). Spectrophotometric absorption data (H2O and 50% EtOH: lambda(max) 387-647 and 390-640 nm, epsilon(max) 12400-43000 and 9800-46650 dm(3)/(mol(.)cm)), light fastness, and dye exhaust coefficients (83.5-96.3%, pH 5, 1% based polyamide fiber) were determined. The dyes could be applied on polyamide fibers and wool with no surfactant added.
