Bimetallic Ru-Ce/Al2O3 catalysts in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis
The structure, adsorption and catalytic properties of bimetallic Ru-Ce/Al2O3 Fischer-Tropsch catalysts were studied. Main products of CO hydrogenation reaction on the Ru-Ce/Al2O3 catalysts are Cl-Cg hydrocarbons. The CO conversion and catalyst selectivity are determined by an Ru/Ce ratio. It was shown that ruthenium and cerium react to give bimetallic Ru-0-Cen+, clusters. The adsorption of CO, H-2, and CO + H-2 was studied using the techniques of microcalorimetry, thermal desorption, and IR spectroscopy. It was found that a decrease in the heats of adsorption of CO and H-2 on the bimetallic catalysts suppresses the methanation reaction and enhances polymerization processes.
