Shape memory polymers belong to an emerging group of "smart materials" that could radically change product design. A part made with shape memory polymer (SMP) reverts to its original form after being manipulated to a different shape. This dynamic process of change and recovery can occur numerous times, making parts fabricated of SMP ideal for applications that require multiple levels of functionality or use in stochastic environments.
