As power plants tighten their processes for reducing NO,, emissions, the consequences usually show up in the quality of flyash. Several back-end ash-beneficiation technologies have proven effective at reducing unburned carbon in flyash to acceptable levels, but some of these technologies are costly. Integrating state-of-the-art combustion sensors and control technology often can reduce or eliminate the back-end cost and improve a plant's bottom line.
