Copolymerization of Ethylene and Styrene with Supported TiCl4/Ndcl3 Catalyst
The copolymerization of ethylene and styrene was carried out in the presence of TiCl4/NdCl3/MgCl2/AlEt3 catalyst. The influences of comonomer ratio, concentrations of catalyst and AlEt3, solvents, and temperature on the copolymerization were investigated. Copolymerization products containing styrene of 4-85 mol % were obtained with good yield. The results of C-13-NMR, IR, X-ray diffraction, and solvent extraction show that the products are mainly copolymers with various comonomer sequences and exhibit special mechanical properties.
