Plastic optics with a high functional integration
Plastic optics not only constitute an inexpensive alternative to glass optics for a large number of applications but are frequently the only feasible solution. Plastics are particularly suitable for moulding optical microstructures. They can be used to achieve complex designs and permit the integration of different mechanical and optical functions. The physical drawbacks of the plastic can frequently be offset by intelligent design solutions, depending on the application involved.
