It is standard practice today to produce the air intake systems on motor vehicle engines from several injection moulded polyamide parts by welding them together into a single component. An innovation in this application is the new air intake system for the current BMW M3. The complex geometry of the air intake and the sequence of assembly steps require the use of two different welding methods for one material class.
