Darmstadt Tire Sensor detects profile element deformations and allows dynamic measurements of e.g. friction coefficient, tire pressure, driving and braking forces, risk of aquaplaning. The passive Surface Accoustical Wave (SAW) tire sensor requires no energy supply battery and provides all information via radio link, an important step to use it in serially for future driver assistance systems.
