Power Consumption in Turbulent Mixing Vessel with Spherical Bottom
The difference in power consumption of a spherical-bottom mixing vessel from dished- and flat-bottom ones was investigated. In the turbulent mixing vessels with standard baffle conditions and a radial-flow type paddle impeller, power consumption in the spherical-bottom vessel was reduced by up to 27% in comparison with the flat-bottom vessel. The vessels with pitched-blade paddle and propeller type impellers showed the same power consumption regardless of the bottom geometry.
