Motion of splash particles released by bubble rupture in fluidized bed
The motion of splash particles released by bubble rupture was examined in a fluidized bed consisting of fluidizing media and splash particles. The motion of splash particles was observed by using a digital video camera, and their velocity and height were determined. The smoke wire method was used for the observation of gas flow and the gas velocity was obtained. By using the experimental data for gas velocity around splash particle, the velocity of splash particle was calculated by the equation of motion. The velocity of gas released by bubble rupture became higher than the superficial gas velocity, and the velocity of splash particle increased when the relative velocity of gas to the splash particle was higher than the terminal velocity of splash particle. The velocity of splash particle obtained by the equation of motion was in good agreement with the experimental data.
