Optimal plate spacing for recovery of deuterium from water-isotopes mixture in a flat-plate therma-diffusion column with transverse sampling streams
The equations which may be employed to predict the optimal plate spacing for recovery of deuterium from water-isotopes mixture in a flat-plate thermal-diffusion column with transverse sampling streams and with fixed operating expense, have been derived. Considerable improvement in performance is obtainable if the plate spacing is suitably adjusted, resulting in suppressing the undesirable remixing effect while still preserving the desirable cascading effect.
