Vapor-Liquid Equilibria of Binary Mixtures Containing 2-Butanol and Hydrocarbons at 313.15 K
The paper reports the isothermal vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) of five binary mixtures containing 2-butanol + heptane, + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, + dodecane, + cyclohexane, and + methylbenzene at 313.15 K. A static technique has been used for the measurements. Data reduction by Barker's method provides the parameters of G(E) models. The six-parameter Margules equation, Wilson, non-random two-liquid (NRTL), and universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) models have been used for the correlation of the experimental data. Good results have been obtained for all. The five investigated mixtures exhibit a positive deviation from ideality, and four of them show a maximum pressure azeotrope. Only the mixture 2-butanol + dodecane does not present an azeotrope.
