Purification of air in hospital ventilation systems
A system for air conditioning consisting of initial air filtration, sterillizing and final filtering sections was described. Filtering materials for the purpose were chosen and examined. They characterise with low pressure drops, high loading capacities and high filtering efficiencies. Standard IFTD dust was used as a test aerosol together with bioaerosol of bacteria Sarcina lutea. For air sterillizing the UV radiation was applied and its intensity was correlated with the sterillizing period in sterillizing setup specially constructed. A setup for air purification was proposed and it enables production of the air free from bioaerosols and reducing the presence of airborn particles in the air with the efficiency above 99.98 % at the pressure drops in the range of 400 Pa and air flow velocity of 0.4 m/s.
