Generation and characteristics of the precession mode of EHD spraying
A detailed description of jet and droplets formation in the ''precession'' mode of electrohydrodynamic spraying is given. Experiments show that the jet rotates around the capillary axis during the spraying process, and uniformly disperses droplets in a spraying cone. This mode of spraying differs from the well-known cone-jet mode in jet formation mechanism and droplet sizes. The operating range of the precession mode in terms of flow rates and voltages was determined for distilled water, ethanol and ethylene glycol.
