Zirconia has suitable characteristics for the fabrication of dental implants such as good mechanical properties, biocompatibility and aesthetic quality. For the long-term success of zirconia ceramics, their surface characteristics, need to ensure good integration of the implant within the bon matrix. Recent studies revealed that Si-substituted HAp has improved bioactivity either in vitro or in vivo. Therefore, developing Si-HAp as a bioactive material is an innovative idea for enhancing bone tissue growth rate, thereby improving early mechanical bone-fixation and thus leading to an enhancement in the lifetime of the implants. In this study, Si-HAp was prepared by combining with calcium phosphate and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). The analysis of characteristic of Si-HAp was carried out with ATR-FTIR, EDX, XRD, and Zeta potential measurements. After heat treatment of Si-HAp coated zirconia block, cytotoxicity test has been performed for the determination of biocompatibility. |
