Recently, there has been increasing interest in the development of sustainable and renewable energy technologies to replace fossil fuels. Water electrolys is one of the most efficient and promising systems for hydrogen production. Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is one of the several water electrolysis systems to produce hydrogen by transporting hydrogen ions using a proton exchange membrane. It has high current density and high purity of hydrogen. Recently, perfluorosulfonic acid ionomers such as Nafion are typically used as PEM. However, Nafion is limited by high costs, low glass transition temperature. In this study, we synthesized superacidic poly(p-phenylene) based copolymer with partially fluorinated oligomer by Ni(0)-catalyzed coupling polymerization. Then, physical and chemical properties of the polymer are tested such as 1H-&19F-NMR, GPC, dimensional changes, IEC, conductivity and etc. |
