Caffeine (CAF), which is an essential additive in energy and soft drinks, has physiological effects such as stimulation of the central nervous system, relaxation of bronchial muscle and gastric acid secretion. However, the excessive usage of CAF may have some side effects such as cardiovascular disease and trembling. Thus, the detection of CAF is very important to avoid this unnecessary side effect. In this study, Prussian blue-Fe3O4@C (PB-Fe3O4@C) nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) is fabricated for electrochemical detection of CAF. The PB-Fe3O4@C nanocomposite is characterized by XRD, FE-SEM/EDX, BET, FT-IR. The electrochemical performance of PB-Fe3O4@C is studied by CV, EIS and DPV. The fabricated PB-Fe3O4@C/GCE detects CAF linearly within the range of 1 - 20 µM with a low detection limit of 0.1 µM. |
