A chemical looping (CL) experiments of FeCeTiOx mixed metal oxides were carried out to produce ethylene from ethane by a reduction step and subsequently CO2 activation to CO by oxidation step. Three different alkali metals (K, Na, and Li) were used to evaluate their performances as chemical promoters for CL application. Among the tested alkali metals, Na promoted FeCeTiOx catalyst was found to be a promising catalyst with 22.3% ethane conversion and 86.8% ethylene selectivity. Structural details and surface properties of alkali metals on the FeCeTiOx catalysts were characterized by N2 sorption, XRD, XPS and TPR analysis to verify the active sites for the CL reaction of ethane and CO2. |
