Synthesis of Silver Nanowire-DNA Conjugates for Sensitive Diagnostic Applications |

We have synthesized silver nanowire-DNA conjugates and have designed a target DNA-detection system in which the silver nanowire-DNA conjugates and gold nanoparticle-DNA conjugates are complementary to each half of target sequence. In the presence of the target, the gold nanoparticle-DNA conjugates are supposed to hybridize onto the silver nanowire-DNA conjugates, whose quantity would be proportional to the target concentration and could be analyzed by simply counting the particles on the nanowires in the SEM images. The limit of detection is determined to be 50 pM. This system can also selectively and efficiently discriminate a one-base mismatch target from perfect match target. |
