Enantioselective Chemical Sensors Prepared via Chiral Functionalization of Graphene |

Enantiomer discrimination is one of the most important issues in chemical and biological fields because of the various chirality-induced properties of enantiomers. Here, we report the development of graphene-based chemical sensors with chiral functionalization molecule which is originated from pyrene structure. Chiral functionalization molecule itself demonstrated different optical responsivity for mixing with different β-citronellol enantiomers. Graphene sensor was functionalized using simple solution deposition via the strong π-π interaction between graphene and pyrene moiety of chiral functionalization molecule. Developed enantioselective chemical sensors were successfully utilized for discrimination of β-citronellol enantiomer, in vapor phase sensing. Our results represent a significant step towards the improvement of chiral electronics field. |
