Effect of aging conditions for monolithic titania-silica aerogels |

Monolithic titania-silica composite aerogels are prepared by sol-gel synthesis with complexation method and subsequent carbon dioxide supercritical drying. They had good transparency and homogeneity, however, they were likely to have many cracks and high shrinkage after supercritical drying and calcination. Therefore, we had controlled the aging parameters such as solvent type, time, and temperature in order to synthesize monolithic composite wet gels with high network strength. As a result, it was possible to enhance the hardness of gel network and consequently get a crack-free titania-silica composite aerogel. |
