Construction of well-defined supramolecular assemblies from multiple components provides an attractive alternative to the tedious covalent synthesis. Here we report novel liquid crystalline moieties from the binary mixture of diamides and dicarboxylic acids. Based on the supramolecular interaction between amides and carboxylic acids, the mixture exhibits nematic liquid crystallinity. With the change of the molecular structure of each component, investigation of liquid crystalline properties by DSC, POM, FT-IR and XRD will be discussed. |
