제목 Electric Field-Enhanced Low-Temperature CO2 Sorption on Eutectic Mixture-Promoted Magnesium Oxide
초록 Theoretical modeling suggests that an applied electric field can promote the adsorption of CO2 on various CO2 capture sorbents. However, this phenomenon has never been experimentally confirmed. In this study, the effect of an applied electric field on a eutectic mixture (EM)-promoted magnesium oxide was investigated. Results show that the sorbent achieved increased sorption capacities in the presence of an electric field at significantly lower temperatures than its usual application. Further investigation revealed that the electric field enhances the strength of adsorption of CO2 on the sorbent while also initiating the electrophoretic migration of EM ions. The sample also exhibited stable sorption under cycling with alternating electrodes, thus resolving the capacity loss commonly experienced by alkali nitrate salt-promoted MgO sorbents.
