제목 Preparation and Swelling Behavior of Functional Polyaspartamide Gel Beads
초록 The swelling properties of chemically cross-linked poly(aspartamide)-based gel beads were investigated, including absolute and relative swelling ratios. Two cross-linkers, 1,4-diaminobuthane and cystamine with disulfide linkage, were used in the preparation of gel beads. The effect of pH on the hydrolysis during the preparation of the hydrogels was also investigated. It was found, that the higher the pH the faster the hydrolysis and the swelling. Two different procedures for making gel beads were studied, i.e. a sedimentation type in a long tube, and a surfactant free emulsion method. The effect of medium viscosity in the tube and size of gel beads on the sedimentation were elucidated. It was found, that a surfactant free emulsion method in oils was possible for making micron-sized beads. Further investigation is needed for lowering the polydispersity and the diameters of the beads.
