Radiation-grafted ETFE Polymer Electrolyte Membrane |

In this study, poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) was grafted using vinybenzyl chloride (VBC) followed by sulfonation via several chemical treatment to yield a poly(vinylbenzyl sulfonic acid) (PVBSA)-grafted ETFE membrane. The effect of grafting condition on the degree of grafting (DOG) was investigated in detail. The prepared membranes were characterized by FTIR, TGA, and SEM EDX. And the physico-chemcial properties with respect to their application in direct methanol fuel cell such as ion exchange capacity, water uptake, proton conductivity, and methanol crossover were investigated in terms of different grafting rates. |
