Rapid climate change has caused serious problems such as rising sea level and ecosystem change. Accordingly, the mitigation of CO2 has emerged as an important issue in the international community. As a countermeasure, the electrochemical reduction of CO2 (ERC) has a great attention. So far, various metals have been tested as catalysts, some of which have been found to have a high selectivity for certain products such as CO, HCOOH, CH3OH. However, metal catalysts suffer from high overpotential, low current efficiency, slow kinetics and poor stability. In this study, various additives were used accompanying with the Ag precursor for Ag catalyst surface modification and crystal plane control. In order to control the interaction time between Ag deposits and additives, the experiment was carried out while changing the pulse off time. Then, Ag catalysts with controlled morphology and crystal facets were tested in H-type electrochemical cell. |
