Adsorption removal of TNT and RDX using graphene type material prepared sugar |

Globally, 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene(TNT) and hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX) are common explosive substance of military munitions. The explosive organic compounds are dangerous and harmful for human’s health and environment. Many researchers used carbon-based materials such as activated carbon, bio-char and graphene to remove TNT and RDX from groundwater. In this present study graphene type material(SG) was prepared from sugar. As prepared SG was confirm by FT-IR, XRD and XPS analysis. The prepared SG was good for removal of TNT and RDX from water. The isotherm experiment data confirms that Langmuir is more suitable than Freundlich for explain adsorption mechanism of TNT and RDX. The adsorption capacity of SG was 102.041 and 58.480 mg/g for TNT and RDX respectively. The overall results concluded that the SG was well suitable for adsorption removal of TNT and RDX from water. |
