Naphthalene was chosen as a model reactant of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), and its catalytic destruction was investigated over three different metal (Pt, Ru, Mo) catalyst supported on SBA-15 or γ-alumina. The SBA-15 supported metal catalyst showed a better activity than the conventional γ-alumina supported one, most probably due to larger surface area and enhanced meso-accessibility. Pt catalysts exhibited a better activity than Ru or Mo as reasoned by the TPD of naphthalene. The incorporation of Al species into SBA-15 seems to be beneficial for catalytic activity and thermal stability. |
