A novel conjugated polymer, poly[N-9’-heptadecanyl-2,7-dibromocarbazole-bis-benzimidazole] (PHCzBIDz) was synthesized from 4-2,2-bis(4’-bromophenyl)-5,5-bi-1H-benzimidazole (BIDz) and N-9’-heptadecanyl-2,7-dibromocarbazole(HCz). First, the BIDz was prepared by reacting 3,3’-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride dehydrate with 4-bromobenzaldehyde, while the HCz was synthesized from 2,7-dibromo carbazole and 9-heptadecane p-toluenesulfonate, followed by boration. Next, the BIDz was polymerized with HCz through Suzuki coupling reaction, followed by characterization with NMR, FT-IR, GC-MS, TGA, DSC and solubility measurements. In addition, optical and electrical properties were also evaluated by fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry(CV). |
