Synthesis and characterization of the graphene oxide reinforced nanocomposite materials |

Exfoliated graphene is molecularly single atom-layered sheet compound. It has been showed that the mechanical and thermal properties of the polymers were jumped by simple blending. But graphene is too hydrophobic to be mixed homogeneously with polymer. In this study we try to identify the miscibility effects of polymer-grafted graphene via the difference of physical properties of those nanocomposites. The functionalization of graphene was performed with graphene oxide, which was prepared from the modified Hummer's method. These compounds were copolymerized with the typical monomers and then blended with polymers. The blended nanocomposites were compared to the simple blending nanocomposites. |
