Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide has attracted attention because it can convert carbon dioxide into valuable fuels and close the carbon cycle. So, numerous catalysts have been studied and gold-based materials stand out as a effective catalyst due to its high faradaic efficiency for carbon monoxide (CO). Also, recent studies found that nitrogen-doped carbon itself can act as adsorption sites for producing carbon monoxide. On the basis of these studies, we nitrided Vulcan carbon (VC) and synthesized gold nanoparticle(AuNP). Then we loaded AuNP onto nitrided Vulcan carbon (N-VC), forming AuNP/N-VC for highly efficient production of carbon monoxide. To characterize its particle size, surface structure, and nitrogen contents. we performed transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). At a specific voltage region, the AuNP/N-VC exhibited higher faradaic efficiency than AuNP/VC. |
