제목 Modeling drying process of polymer nanoparticle composite film
초록 The drying processes of thin films of nanoparticle suspensions or polymer solutions containing nanoparticles are investigated by means of lattice Monte Carlo simulation method. Nanoparticles are modeled as large-sized cubes whereas polymers as linked linear chains. The solvent chemical potential which is used to establish the average concentration of solvent and vapor at equilibrium is adjusted to favor solvent evaporation. The structure of nanoparticle-deposited film is shown to depend strongly on the inter-particle interaction and evaporation rate. The film shows much smoother surface and more close-packed structure at lower evaporation rate and lesser repulsion among particles. These results are in good agreement with those shown in the ink-jet inks printed on the paper. Our lattice model catches the key features of the self-assembly of polymers and nanoparticles during solvent evaporation.
