제목 | Performance enhancement of electrorheological fluids with increased crystallinity |
초록 | To clarify the association between the crystallinity and the performance of electrorheological (ER) fluids, the crystallinity of the silica–titania hollow nanoparticles (HNPs), which are adopted as ER materials, are controlled with heat treatments. The phase of titania is changed from amorphous to anatase by calcination due to the transformation of its crystalline phase. This phase change of titania results in the enhancement of dielectric constants, related to the ER activities. Therefore, the ER fluids exhibit improved performance with increasing the crystallinity of titania. This study would provide a promising approach for improving the ER properties.
