Development of High Performance Magnetic Materials based on Metastable Phases |

Iron based magnetic materials with metastable phases have been suggested as a one of the most promising candidate as a future rare-earth free permanent magnet due to their advantages such as abundant amount of Fe on the earth and its large saturation magnetization. Especially, large magnetocrystalline anisotropy can be induced by inducing metastable phases or shapes. Thus, researchers have developed the various synthesis methods to form metastable phases of iron based magnetic particles via wet chemical, ball milling and plasma process etc. In this study, we have developed synthetic approaches to fabricate various iron based magnetic particles for advanced magnetic properties. This strategy used in this work would pave the way for the industrial production of high performance rare-earth free magnetic materials based on metastable iron phases.
