Photoresponsive Organogelator by Self-Assembly of Well-Defined Amphiphilic Block Copolymers |

Novel well-defined amphiphilic block copolymers were synthesized through chain-growth condensation polymerization of AB type monomer with modified PEO macroinitiators. The monomer consists of photoresponsive azobenzene units which undergo trans-cis isomerization by light or thermal stimuli. Gelation occurred in proper solution of the block copolymers. The gel-sol transition can be modulated by UV and visible light as well as thermal treatment. Details on synthetic methods and characterization of the block copolymers will be presented. |
