As global warming and air pollution become more serious problems, heterogeneous catalysts to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas have received much attention. Reducing the size of metal particles to the atomic level can maximize the mass activity. Furthermore, fine control of the geometric and electronic structures can greatly improve catalytic performance. Here, we design the atomic catalysts with 100% dispersion and controlled structures. Dual CeO2-Al2O3 support was fabricated, and then metal atoms were immobilized on it. Atomic arrangement was tuned to the single-atom catalysts (SACs) or ensemble catalysts (ESCs). Also, electronic state of them was varied from oxidized to metallic state. These atomic catalysts showed superior performance for reactions to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas, so they can be promising candidates for clean air and carbon neutrality. |
