Various climate change problems are occurring due to the increase of greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere. Therefore carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) technology is attracting attention as a feasible method to solve the problem. Mineral carbonation using oyster shell has the advantage of being able to recycle oyster shell that have been illegally disposed or neglected, to store carbon dioxide and to create value-added by using synthesized carbonates. The purpose of this study is synthesizing high-purity precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) from the oyster shell. Ca ions were extracted from the oyster shell using Hydrochloric acid (HCl). The carbonation between manufactured Ca-rich ionic solution and CO2 was examined at various conditions such as carbonation reaction time, Ca ion concentration and CO2 flow rate. The Behavior about purity, carbonation yield and particle size of final products was observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). |
