제목 Preparation and electrocatalytic activity of gold nanoparticles immobilized onto the surface of mercaptobenzoyl-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes
초록 Multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were functionalized with 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (MBAc) in a polyphosphoric acid (PPA)/phosphorous pentoxide (P2O5) to afford 4-mercaptobenzoyl-functionalized MWCNT (MB-MWCNT). Gold nanoparticles (GNPs), stabilized by trisodium citrate, were prepared from the in-situ reduction of HAuCl4 by sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in the presence of MB-MWCNT dispersed in ethanol. The morphology of resultant GNP/MB-MWCNT composite showed that GNPs were formed with an average diameter of 4.3 nm, and uniformly decorated on the surface of MB-MWCNTs. HR-TEM and XPS studies revealed that GNPs had well-defined crystal structure. Cyclic voltammetry results indicated significantly improved electrocatalytic activity and electrochemical stability of GNP/MB-MWCNT composite.
