The novel porphyrin probe containing 2,2’-dipicolylamine (DPAP) was synthesized for detection of metal cations. Sensing behavior of DPAP toward metal ions was investigated with photophysical study. 2,2’-dipicolylamine(DPA) as a ligand is known to form stable complexes with numerous metal cations, thus affording high sensing sensitivity. Our novel sensor functions as fluorometric sensor for various metal cations in the parts per million range and shows rapid response in both colorimetric and turn-off fluorescence modes. DPAP exhibits multi-signal effect with metal cations, especially with Co2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Cr3+. Fluorescence quenched completely with Cu2+, Ni2+, but it quenched partially with Co2+ and Cr3+. The detection limit of DPAP for Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, and Cr3+ was determined as 30.3nM, 34.8nM, 38.1nM and 94.2, respectively. We discuss in detail the sensing properties of DPAP in solution state. |
