TiO2 photoelectrode is being used in photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell, which is used for water splitting. In order to increase the efficiency of the photoelectrode, we designed and fabricated SnO2/TiO2 photoelectrode. Then, the physical properties of the photoelectrode were analyzed using a device such as a TEM or XPS. As a result, we confirmed that a thin TiO2 layer was present on the SnO2 nanoparticles as designed. Next, the photocurrent density of the SnO2/TiO2 photoelectrode was measured, and it showed a marked improvement in performance compared with the use of the single SnO2 or TiO2 electrode. As a result of measuring the photocurrent density while changing the TiO2 deposition time, it was confirmed that the photocurrent density was maximum at 90 minutes. It showed about 12.4% higher efficiency than a TiO2/TiO2 photoelectrode produced under the same conditions and same deposition time. |
