In this research, polymeric microcapsules containing healing agent materials were prepared by emulsion polymerization reaction between polyurethane prepolymer and chain extender (diol or triol) at water-oil interface. Wall thickness of microcapsules and their mechanical properties was controlled by adjusting diol and triol ratio during synthesis. Healing agent containing bis-furan functional group and its counterpart agent containing bis-maleimide functional group were introduced as core materials, respectively. Microcapsules with self-healing agent were mixed in polymeric matrix for self-healing function. When the microcapsules were broken, core materials escaped from capsules and healed the scar. Healing efficiency was tested according to ratio of healing agent capsule and counterpart capsules. |
