Mordenite is an industrial important zeolite for production of cumene in poly phenol process. However, the major drawback of mordenite is its 1D pore structure which cause rapid deactivation due to the lack of interconnectivity. This imposes diffusional limitations on reactions, limiting their activity, selectivity, and stability. Therefore the introduction of mesoporosity into mordenite structure is expected for release of such handicaps. In here we present microwave synthesis of mesoporous mordenite by using cationic surfactant. The catalytic activity was demonstrated in trans-alkylation of diisopropylbenzene with benzene and tert-butylbenzene with tert-butanol. The reaction results depicted higher selectivities on lager molecules and longevity of the mesoporous mordenite. |
