Ionic-liquid-based solid polymer electrolytes, known as ion gels, have received significant research attention in thin-film electrochemical devices because of their outstanding characteristics including negligible vapor pressure, high ionic conductivity, large specific capacitance, and good thermal/electrochemical stabilities. By using these solid polymer electrolytes as a gate dielectric, we have successfully fabricated thin-film transistors and inverters on flexible substrates. The resulting transistors fully turn on and off at low operating voltages below 2 V with reasonably high carrier mobility and on/off current ratio owing to the high capacitance of the polymer electrolyte. The transistors also showed excellent operational stabilities under successive mechanical bends. In addition, fabricated inverters showed appropriate voltage switching performance at low voltages with large voltage gain. |
