제목 A co-solvent drying of nanocellulose with innovative dehydration rate and minimally damaged nanofibril exfoliation
초록 The high water content (>90%) of nanocellulose stock solutions causes high transportation and processing costs. Thermal drying is the fastest and most economical method to dehydrate nanocellulose but gives the strong aggregation of nanocellulose as a result, leading to poor re-dispersibility in water. In this study, we report a co-solvent assisted drying process for three major types of nanocellulose with the minimal damage of exfoliated nanofibril structure. The thermal drying nanocellulose solution shows ~ 12 times lower drying time than freeze-drying in the same way. This drying method gives the well redispersion of the dried nanocellulose in water.
