The composites of chitosan, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), graphite oxide, and iron oxide were prepared by w/o emulsion in order to remove the heavy metals in the aqueous pollutant. Both chitosan and graphite oxide were used as adsorbents. PVA was blended to improve the mechanical and chemical properties of chitosan. Iron oxide was introduced in the composite for the easier recovery after adsorbing heavy metals to eliminate the secondary pollution. The ferromagnetic properties of composites were obtained by including iron oxide additive. The copper ion removal was investigated with ICP AES. Both PVA and graphite oxide improved the copper ion removal efficiency. |
