Porphyrin derivatives have recently emerged for the development of new materials for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), due to a variety of optical, electrochemical properties from the central metal and structural modifications. In this work, we report on the design and synthesis of a series of diphenylporphyrin derivatives possessing the side arms of alkyl chains. Diphenyl porphyrin derivatives were prepared by the condensation of alkyl-substituted benzaldehyde (number of alkyl chain: n = 1, 2, and 3) with dipyrrolmethane. The resulting compounds were purified by recycling preparative size-exclusion chromatography and were fully characterized by means of 1H NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and MALDI-TOF-MS. |
