Until now, the overall light-to-electrical energy efficiencies of the DSSC based on liquid electrolytes have reached 11 % under irradiation of 100 mW cm-2 (AM 1.5). However, liquid electrolytes have many problems, such as leakage and volatilization of the solvent, desorption and photo-degradation of the attached dyes. In order to replace liquid electrolyte, many attempts have been made such as using gel electrolytes or polymer electrolytes. In this study, we used nonyl phenol ethoxylate as new matrix in gel electrolytes for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The DSSC device using Iodine contained Electrolyte showed 15.20 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit photocurrent (Jsc), 610 mV of the open-circuit voltage (Voc), 0.55 of the fill factor (FF), and 5.08 % of the power conversion efficiency (η). The DSSC device using Iodine free Electrolyte showed 12.70 mA/cm2 of the Jsc, 670 mV of the Voc, 0.53 of the FF, and 4.47 % of the η. |
