The vesicular aggregates made of copolymers, polymersome, are of particular interest as a potential biomedical application. Amphiphilic copolymers have higher molecular weight than phospholipids and can associate to form more entangled membrane, imparting improved mechanical properties. However, the major limitation of polymersome arises from the lack of permeation pathway for hydrophilic solutes. Furthermore, the biodegradability of polymersome is an important property to be applied to biomedical application. Herein, we report for the first time the preparation of polymersome with pH-sensitive membrane (pHsome) using biodegradable polymer based on grafting copolymer composed of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol), poly(D,L-lactide) (PLA), and poly(β-amino ester) (PAE), which confers pH sensitive membrane. |
